Situated on Napier's Historic Bluff Hill, The Masters Lodge represents the ultimate in elegance & luxury. Every room in the Lodge enjoys panoramic views of the South Pacific Ocean, Cape Kidnappers, Te Mata Peak and the Marine Parade. Available to a maximum of four guests at a time, The Masters Lodge is a truly private and exclusive experience.

The Lodge is a true testament to careful restoration and attention to detail.  The magnificent luxury furnishings complement the interior design perfectly, as do the expansive leadlight windows , which dapple coloured patterns of light throughout the day.  The result reveals exquisite taste, eye for detail and exciting combinations of colour culminating in the winning of the prestigious Art Deco Merit Award and being named one of the "Five Best Art Deco Hotels" in the World by The Independent News UK, and "One of New Zealand's Top 10 Experiences" by New Zealand Travel Ltd.

Once home to tobacco magnate Gerhard Husheer, The Masters Lodge features identical leadlight windows and fittings as the internationally acclaimed National Tobacco Company Building, Husheer's former workplace. New York Times  writer Carol van Grondelle aptly described his office building as a "Faberge egg set in the industrial tundra of a working port". 

In the lovingly restored interior of the house, guests can find memorabilia from Husheer's life, such as license plates from his chauffeur driven fleet of cars. (Husheer himself never acquired a driver's licence). The fleet included 1934 and 1936 left-hand-drive Pierce Arrows, fitted in red leather and Caucasian walnut with a "battery of horns in the front which play chimes, bugle notes or straight loud Klaxen if required" as the New Zealand Observer  of December 13, 1934  wistfully noted.  

Also on display are famous New Zealand Architect  Louis Hay's 1930 drawings for the house renovation and lists of plants ordered or delivered from local nurseries for Husheer's enthusiastic native tree-planting programme.  

Upstairs, guests can daydream in the Solarium which has ornate leadlight windows (pictured above).
